Preheat a grill or cast-iron skillet. Wipe down cooking area with olive oil. Set to medium-high heat.
In a mixing bowl combine the ground beef, salt, pepper and oregano. Mix well. Divide into four portions and form into burger patties. Sauté the burgers over medium-high heat on each side for 4 – 4 ½ minutes per side.
Mix the cheese until well blended. Add the ricotta last to bind all cheeses together.
Peel, stem and core the pears and slice into thin chips.
Right before the burgers are done place a large scoop of the cheese mixture on top of each burger. Flatten with a spatula and cover the burger to melt the cheese. Serve the burger on a toasted English muffin, with a few slices of pear on top of the melted cheese. Sprinkle with the ground walnuts.
