Butter Beans with Ham Hocks
Directions
- Place the ham hocks and water in a large stock pot. Cover and heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
- Remove hocks, shred the meat and then return to pot with water.
- To the pot add beans, sugar, salt, okra and pepper. Cook for 25 minutes until beans are done. Serve.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb(s). beans, butter, (or 32 oz. of canned beans)
- 3 ham, hock(s)
- 1/2 lb(s) okra, fresh
- 2 tbsp Roma® Black Pepper, Ground
- 1 tbsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 3 cup water
