Butter Beans with Ham Hocks

Directions

  1. Place the ham hocks and water in a large stock pot.  Cover and heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove hocks, shred the meat and then return to pot with water.
  3. To the pot add beans, sugar, salt, okra and pepper. Cook for 25 minutes until beans are done. Serve.

  • 1 1/2 lb(s). beans, butter, (or 32 oz. of canned beans)
  • 3 ham, hock(s)
  • 1/2 lb(s) okra, fresh
  • 2 tbsp Roma® Black Pepper, Ground
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cup water
